January was a whirlwind! My Christmas tree and the decoration have never been removed so quickly! On January 6th my husband Bob and I welcomed our dear friend and colleague, Eric Deacon, from London who flew in to coach my College Audition Intensive Workshop. The following day Gregory Linington, a fabulous 12 year veteran from Ashland's OSF, arrived from Oregon and the wonderful actress, Nike Doukas, flew up from Los Angeles. The next two days were a whirlwind of intensive training for the 16 students who came from as far north as Oregon and far south as Fresno. Each of the students worked intensely with all of the coaches and left exhausted and exhilarated, and thanks to Chef Extraordinaire Bob, with full stomachs!
Over the next 2 weeks I met with the students and we discussed what they learned at the workshop and reviewed the adjustments they received on their pieces.
On a beautiful sunny Saturday January 22 the College Audition Pro Mock Auditions were held at Stage Werx in Union Square. Three fabulous auditors: Agent Mary Saxon, Actor Tom McGraw and the Head of the Theatre Department at St Ignatius College Prep, Ted Curry, donated their time to be part of this exciting day. I was thrilled with how well my students handled, not only performing their pieces, but all the adjustments and interview questions that were thrown at them.
Everyone left feeling totally prepared for the onslaught of auditions facing them in February!
